The Land of Cockaigne

A land of plenty where pleasure is always at hand. It represents both a dream or a wish and a resentment at the scarcity imposed by the Church. It traces its name from the Middle French “Pays de Cocagne” (land of plenty).

Le Pays de Cocagne is also an actual region in southwestern France, a triangle situated between the cities of Toulouse, Albi and Carcassonne.
