Neith

Neith is an Egyptian goddess. Her name closely resembles the word for water, so she is known as a creation Goddess associated with primordial waters.

She created incense and perfume out of the acacia tree. The acacia tree draws bees and a delicious acacia honey results from the attraction of its fragrant yellow flowers. She is the mother of the sun and the Goddess of the shade.

Neith shares with the Virgin Mary the concept of parthenogenesis: reproduction in which a female can produce an embryo without fertilizing an egg with sperm. In Greek, it means the virgin creation.
