Marseille – Massilia

A large commerce harbor founded in the sixth century BC by Greek immigrants. A cosmopolitan city.

Today Marseille is considered the oldest city in France and Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited settlement.

The Greeks used to consider life in Massilia an effeminate and soft life. Men were known to wear long perfumed robes and tie their hair up.
