After first hearing about the Land of Cockaigne, many people told me they wanted to know more. This is definitely a work of imaginative fiction but it is based on historical events.

I wanted the piece to distill a sense of simplicity, of love and beauty, and I wanted the primary focus to be a woman, Mary, and her experience. As she crosses land and sea, we see a reflection of her inner world, rather than what we know of her. She is an evocation of what I see as the Divine Feminine: strong, soft, ….

While her inner world is my imagining, a great deal of research went into creating this work. This catalogue is intended for reader’s curiosity and to add texture to the story. These are some of the religious, historical and geographical threads that are woven behind the woman who appears in the pages of this journey.
